What might be possible if we had ways of imagining it?

In this workshop facilitated by Emily Salja (MNTCW), we will explore using genres like fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, speculative fiction, magical realism and more to access 'landscapes of possibility' (Salja, 2022) as a way of scaffolding Michael White's landscapes of meaning and action with those who consult us.

Group and student rates available, please contact info@groundfireccw.ca. Pre-approved for 3 CE credits with the CCPA.

To register and pay via Interac e-transfer or direct local bank transfer in USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, or NZD, please contact info@groundfireccw.ca.

In this workshop, we'll:

  • Identify ‘landscapes of possibility’ and why they’re important

  • Look at ways we can weave stories and characters from fictional landscapes into our work for therapeutic ends, even if we don’t know the stories ourselves

  • Consider ways that fictional stories we interact with shape and reflect our lives

  • Explore how fantastic landscapes can ease the constraints that dominant discourses present in day-to-day life and offer new pathways

  • Practice ways of integrating what is fantastic or made possible by fantasy into the reality of day to day life.
